Just in case you didn’t hear, Pastor Kara traveled for 13 days and 5,368 miles.
That’s driving my car through ND, MT, WY, SD, IA, IN, IL, OH, PA and NY in order to make it to two different college graduations.
It was fun to meet up with a friend from seminary who is now a pastor in Montana.
And it was great to see my entire family in Wyoming for my sister Kiana’s graduation from Northwest College!
The Bighorn Mtns were pretty to drive through:
After spending a couple more days with Kendra, Kayla and Libby in the Black Hills of SD, the great drive began.
From South Dakota, we traveled on Interstate out to Poughkeepsie, NY where KrissaMarie would graduate from Vassar College.
One of the highlights for the trip for me was the graduation ceremony where the commencement speaker was Nobel Peace Prize laureate Leymah Gbowee, who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her work in inspiring the women of Liberia to protest and bring about peace in their nation. The message she had for the graduates was to encourage them to blossom where they are called. I appreciated how she was not shy about mentioning how important her [Lutheran] faith was in bringing her to the place she was meant to be so that change could happen.
